<span id="clearing">You're hiking in the woods when you find a little clearing with a stump off to one side. It's a pretty little spot, and you take in the scenery for a moment before you realize you have no idea how to get back. You push through the bush and wander around looking for a trail for a little while, but eventually end up back at the same stump in the clearing.</span>

You make yourself comfortable on the stump. It's truly beautiful with the wind whispering through the trees and the occasional flutter of wings. You sit and wait for a while, until you realize it's starting to get dark, and you have no source of light.
<<linkappend "Damn.">>
Yeah, this is a problem. You're never going to get found out here, you didn't tell anyone you were going for a hike. Oops.

You wander around for a while, trying not to walk in circles. Eventually you see a glimpse of red through the trees. With desperate relief you push through the bushes into a little clearing with a little cottage that appears to be made entirely of candy.

Eventually you are feeling your way blindly through the forest. By dumb luck, you stumble into a clearing. There is a small cottage, and you can just barely make out smoke coming from the chimney.

<</if>>You take one look and decide that this is bad news bears, and there's no way you're going to be part of it. You duck back through the brush and back into the woods. It is long, dark, and uncomfortable night, but sometime around midnight you finally make it back to the trailhead. Your car is there waiting for you. You're exhausted as you get in, but at least you didn't get eaten by a witch.
The end.You get to the door. It has a large peppermint candy on a licorish rope as a door knocker. \

You knock on the door, and hear footsteps coming from inside. The door opens, and you see the silhouette of a person wearing a pointy hat. As your eyes adjust, you realize it's an old woman wearing a baggy dress and a witch's hat. "Good evening!" she says. "It's getting late, would you like to come in and warm up?"

"Now I've got you!" the witch exclaims as she enters the clearing. You look at her from your upside down view in the net trap. She grins at you, then unties the trap from the tree and begins to drag you back to the candy house. It's a bumpy ride. \
